Challenge
The old Home screen resembles those of other social apps and lacks distinctiveness. Since the app adopts a proximity-based approach, we aim to introduce unique features that cater to users' needs for interaction and exploration based on their location. We plan to categorize and realign posts according to user needs, such as asking for help, inviting others, and more.

Research methods:
We conducted desk research to gather data and carried out user interviews with 5 people (aged 18-32) who are active social media users to identify common characteristics regarding their desires, as well as the difficulties they face or their experiences with our current product.
The results indicate that they are still interested in a social media platform developed specifically for Singapore, and the demand for social media remains very high (especially among Gen Z). However, our application lacks unique features and is essentially a consolidation of many existing applications. They are looking for something more distinctive.
Competitive Analysis:
Study competitors to identify gaps and opportunitie : GoodHood, NextBlock.

Develop
Wireframe & Prototyping: We designed low-fidelity wireframes to visualize the new layout and navigation, iteratively refining them based on user feedback. Afterward, we built a high-fidelity, interactive prototype to test the design.
Build Style Guide: We developed a cohesive visual language, mascot collection, including color schemes, typography, and iconography, ensuring consistency throughout the app, to maintain design consistency in future updates.
Design Iterations: Discuss how feedback from mainly from stakeholders influenced the iterations and final design.
Collaboration: Mention any collaboration with other teams (e.g., developers, product managers) and how it influenced the design process.

Impact
App download rate increases by an average of 4.5% each week.
The client is satisfied with the refreshed interface.
There is potential to develop and standardize components for other key features.
Some positive feedback from users:
- #Melody C. - “I’m super impressed about the value that your app can bring! And honestly, I think your concept has brilliant potential if it reaches enough people.”
#Ja C. - “I like that it is really easy to use. just now I discovered it also functions as a marketplace. It has a lot of potential but my area currently has only 60+ members. Hope it gets more users soon”
#Addison G. - “The app is good already but i believe u have something greater. Hang in there! you’re doing good already!”

Reflection
Comm1 is a long-term project where I have learned a lot from the Founder, including research methods, local habits, and participated in several workshops to brainstorm with the team. Working closely with the Design team has helped me improve my visual skills and adopt a more diverse approach.
Since the project does not have a BA, I have learned to grasp the flow, evaluate, and prioritize features for each sprint.
Receiving diverse feedback and being more involved in the business impact of the project has presented challenges to improve features, even small ones, with a significant impact.
